The NYS/AHERA Asbestos Inspector Initial is a 24-hour training course for students, who after completion will be able to collect bulk samples, survey, identify, record and report upon asbestos containing materials associated with any building or structure, in compliance with existing regulations or in performance of investigative studies. The course focuses on inspection procedures including the pre-abatement inspection, the inspection process, bulk sampling protocols, lab analysis and the assessment of asbestos material; legal liabilities; public relations and recordkeeping. The students will also demonstrate hands-on practice by participating in a bulk sampling workshop, respirator/PPE workshop and a walk-through survey workshop.
