NYCDOB SST Local Law 196 Training

Training required for certain workers and supervisors to comply with NYC Local Law 196

COURSE DESCRIPTION

New York City�s Local Law 196 of 2017 requires that certain workers and supervisors at certain types of job sites that are required to designate a Construction Superintendent, Site Safety Coordinator or Site Safety Manager � receive 40 or 62 Hours of Safety Training.

The Local Law was phased in from 2018 through 2020 and requires that Workers receive 40 Hours of Safety Training to obtain a Site Safety Training (SST) Worker card, and Supervisors receive 62 Hours of Safety Training to obtain a SST Supervisor Card.

Courses required to be taken include:

Both WORKERS and SUPERVISORS
- 30-Hour OSHA
- 8-Hour Fall Prevention
- 2-Hour Drug and Alcohol Awareness

Only SUPERVISORS
- 8-Hour Site Safety Manager Ref/Chapter 33
- 4-Hour Supported Scaffold
- 2-Hour Site Safety Plan
- 2-Hour Tool Box Talks
- 2-Hour Pre-Task Safety Meetings
- 2-General Electives
- 2-Special Electives
